Several local law enforcement officers have gone to prison for allowing drugs to come through.

Rio Grande Valley - The Valley has seen several cases of corruption.

In November of 2006, Elsa Police Officer Herman Carr pleaded guilty to accepting money to protect drug loads.

In June of 2006, Three Rio Grande City Police Officers pleaded guilty to using patrol cars to escort the drugs.

Back in December of 2005, Cameron County's Former Sheriff Conrado Cantu and several associates pleaded guilty to helping drug traffickers.

But, they're the acception not the rule.

"I would say the vast majority do their job well and serve the public well." Says Cornyn.
